It might not have escaped the notice of attentive fans: Psyonix, developer and operator of Rocket League, has suspended all eSports events and competitions until next year. Instead, the community will take center stage.

After the World Championship is … before a longer break!

After Team Vitality was crowned world champion in Düsseldorf a few weeks ago, that should be it for the Rocket League scene in terms of tournaments for now. As developer Psyonix announced, all competitions will be paused until next year.

Focus on the community

Instead, the company is focusing on community-organized events to keep fans engaged until the actual eSports competitions are relaunched. Furthermore, it says that all players:inside who want to prove themselves in one of the tournaments can do so without any problems. In addition, the college competition returns to Rocket League, where the stars of the future will get a chance to shine once already.

With the passing of last season, Rocket League secured an all-time high in viewership, which was especially noticeable around the World Cup. At its peak, over 100,000 people watched the duels in Düsseldorf and Vitality’s eventual triumph live at the same time.
