What’s in the Total Conversion

X-Wing Alliance as a basis: The modders have recreated TIE Fighter in the engine of the somewhat younger X-Wing Alliance (from 1999), because it was based on a stronger technology. This port makes it possible to significantly improve both graphics and gameplay.

All missions, new campaign: All the original campaigns and missions, including the old training sessions, are in TFTC, you will also recognise all the cutscenes and voice actors. In addition, there is a revised campaign that consists of the first eight battles and expands them with larger fleets and new tasks.

Graphics, sound and VR: Of course, you shouldn’t expect TFTC to be able to compete visually with a Star Wars Squadrons, but the graphical improvements are still impressive compared to the original (see also the trailer below).

The sound has also been modernised, but before the nostalgics among you drop the corners of their mouths, there’s an all-clear: you can easily switch to the old MIDI soundtrack if you wish. There is also good news for VR fans: The mod offers full VR support.
