But no release! Actually, update 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3 was supposed to be released today, September 21, 2023, for PC and PlayStation 5. However, Larian has now postponed the patch at short notice. Fortunately only by a single day!
Update 3 will therefore now be released on September 22, 2023
The reason for the postponement? Apparently, the team wants to test the patch a bit more extensively before it is released. In the announcement, Larian also talked about it being a big
one. That almost makes it sound like the previous patches were tiny. Below you can see what we already know about the update.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is already well on its way to the gaming hall of fame, but the role-playing game is not perfect yet. Mainly because Larian’s masterpiece is still plagued by many technical bugs.
The first two huge patches have already fixed a lot of bugs, but there is still a lot to be done. With Patch 3, the studio will follow up and possibly fix some of the bugs that get on your nerves the most. Now the studio has announced when the next update will be released.
When will patch 3 be released?
You can expect the release of the next big update as early as next week. As the studio officially revealed in a tweet, the date for patch 3 is now fixed. For PlayStation players, this will be the first major patch since the release

What new features does the patch bring?

Patch notes have not yet been revealed for the new update, but Larian has announced one important new feature. With patch 3 Baldur’s Gate 3 will finally be supported on Mac. Until now, this only applied to the Early Access version, but now all Mac friends out there can be sure that they can also start playing completely from September 21 onwards.
What will be fixed?
Which fixes will be included in patch 3 is completely unknown So here we can only speculate. Most likely, the new patch will again address performance. Chief developer Swen Vincke spoke in a recent tweet about the code team being close to achieving the performance they are striving for
They had some setbacks but our code team is getting closer and closer to achieving the performance they originally aimed for – I think they’ll manage to surprise everyone still. They’re very motivated.

In addition, many players are hoping for various bug fixes and changes, some would like to see an improvement in the romance with the Drow companion Minthara, for instance.
After Patch 1, the team also talked about the option to change the appearance of characters in the running game. It’s unclear if the feature will already be implemented with Patch 3, but it’s not completely unlikely either.
