You should check your Steam inventory now – you might be able to make a small fortune by selling skins.
Counter-Strike 2 was released this week and suddenly Valve’s shooter is more popular than ever. Up to 1.8 million players are currently online on the servers at the same time and are making them sweat.
The new popularity has immediately increased the prices of skins, crates and all other tradable items – and maybe there is a small fortune in your Steam inventory. How to check this and sell your CS2 skins, we explain in our short guide.
How to sell CS2 skins
Caution: Before you start trading, you should know that there are some rules for using Steam Market. First of all, you need to enable Steam Guard in your account. To do this, you will need to install the Steam app on your phone.
Every time you log into your Steam account with a new device or browser, your account will be locked out from trading with users or selling CS2 skins on the Steam Marketplace for 15 days. This is Steam’s way of preventing unauthorized parties from taking over your account and immediately selling all items.
If you have already enabled two-factor authorization via Steam Guard, you can start trading directly:
- Open your (Steam inventory) and select the Counter-Strike 2 category there.
- Now you should see all the items you have accumulated over the years.
- Clicking on an item will open its description. At the bottom of this description you will find the current price as well as the green Sell button.
- Click this button to enter the Sell window. Here you can enter your desired price and put the item up for sale.
Finally, you only have to confirm this via the Steam app on your smartphone – done!

This enhances your inventory view with useful options and info. For example, you can directly see the current price of your items and sort them by price to have the most valuable items at a glance.
Before I took the first screenshot, I’ve already found and sold around 20 Euros worth of boxes that I would never open anyway – easily earned Steam credit for my next game purchase, which will probably be Cities Skylines 2.
