The end of the old Modern Warfare 2 is one of the most emotional moments in the series. The latest CoD pays tribute to the decisive moment with an Easter Egg
The campaigns of the old Modern Warfare trilogy contain some of the most memorable moments in the series. The new Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 recalls with an Easter Egg how players in MW 2 (2009) were allowed to take revenge for the betrayal of General Shepherd.
The most important throw in CoD history
What is it? The Easter Egg is a half-buried skull with a knife in its left eye. You can find it on the map Rust in the current Modern Warfare 3.
The CoD account @TheMW2Ghost shows the Easter Egg in a post on X, formerly Twitter:

What does this Easter Egg allude to? It’s a reference to the finale of Modern Warfare 2 (2009). You’ve even thrown this knife yourself if you’ve played the campaign. If you still plan to do so: Small spoiler warning!
At the end of MW 2 (2009), Price and Soap find the renegade General Shepherd in Afghanistan, represented by the map Rust. They want revenge for the general’s betrayal and the murder of their comrades
But Shepherd threatens to win and you, in the skin of Soap, get a knife in the body. You can avert Price’s death by pulling the knife out of the wound and throwing it at his opponent

For the players, the action only consists of a mouse click or button press on the controller, but due to the previous loss of friends Ghost and Roach, it was a very emotional moment for many fans.
Community celebrates the find
The reactions under the post show that the fans remember the moment well. “The most satisfying ending of all CoDs to date,” writes (@TheCODCasuals).
(@CrNcHyFROG) says: “Okay, that’s really badass. I love these little details in the remaster maps.”. (@St0neytheCl0wn) is also pleased that the developers include Easter Eggs like this and says: “Thanks for giving me one more reason to like Sledgehammer. “
