Mind over Magic only has just over 200 user reviews, but almost all of them are enthusiastic

Are you tired of waiting in vain for the letter from Hogwarts every year on your birthday? Well, that’s enough! If McGonagall, Snape, Flitwick and co. won’t have us, we’ll just have to find another school to train our magical powers. Mind over Magic could be a suitable candidate.

The debut game from developer team Sparkypants (on Steam) currently only has just over 200 user reviews, but they are more than impressive: A whopping 96 percent of players are positive, some are even enthusiastic.

We’ll explain exactly what this potential insider tip is all about and what players praise so much about it. But first, it’s best to take a look at the trailer:

A magical mix of Fallout Shelter and Harry Potter

Mind over Magic is a magic school manager. You are responsible for all aspects of the school, both for the well-being of the students and for the smooth – or sometimes chaotic – running of the lessons.

Optically, Mind over Magic is reminiscent of Fallout Shelter at first glance: You view your increasingly towering school of magic from the side and therefore always have an eye on what is happening in the individual rooms.

Fighting also takes place in the dark depths below your school. To ensure that the expeditions there do not end fatally, you must first brew potions, learn spells and plant alchemical ingredients.

In comparison to Spellcaster University, which is similar in terms of gameplay, the big difference is that you don’t build your school based on cards, but have to produce the necessary resources and items yourself first. The management part should therefore be much more important here.

The Steam users are enchanted

As already mentioned, the reviews of Mind over Magic are extremely positive In addition to the colorful, appealing visuals, the in-depth gameplay is particularly praised, which has captivated one or two reviewers for hours in front of the screen. GR1Mshadow’s (rating) almost reads like a declaration of love for the game:

From the diorama-inspired presentation of the setting, the gorgeous visual styling, the vibrancy of the inhabitants, the simple and complex pleasures of the mechanics, and the ever-improving user experience… I can’t emphasize enough how enjoyable it’s been to follow the development of this title, the quality of which keeps making me forget that it’s not even fully released yet.

The technical condition is also said to be extremely pleasing for an Early Access version. Yes, you read that right: You can already play Mind over Magic So if you’re itching to throw your wand, owl and spellbooks into your suitcase, there’s no reason to wait.

How do you like Mind over Magic? Have you now got a taste for the magical game or have you already played so many management games of this kind that the game can’t charm you despite the interesting setting?
