After a long hiatus, one of the creative minds behind Dead Space is now surprisingly teasing a new project on X.

Glen Schofield, one of the main creators of the original Dead Space (2008), is back on X (formerly Twitter) after a long break and has news for the community: He is working on a new game

Schofield writes on Twitter that he has nevertheless been very busy during his time away. Something “new and exciting” is being planned. He is not revealing any more at the moment. But: The first information should be available in the new year

A new beginning after the controversial The Callisto Protocol

In 2019, Schofield founded his own development studio Striking Distance Studios to create The Callisto Protocol a spiritual successor to the horror hit Dead Space

The project backfired in the eyes of many fans and also in terms of business figures: of the original sales target of five million copies, only around 2 million have been achieved so far.

In September 2023, he finally left Striking Distance Studios to “pursue new opportunities”.

This is how the community reacts

Fans are quick to react to the news on the social media platform – many are hoping for another sci-fi horror, just like the users enemyinbob and gx_flix

Although some in the community, such as BelizaireKenny would like to see a sequel to The Callisto Protocol or a remake of Dead Space 2, this is rather unrealistic. The user writes: “Please let it be a sequel to Callisto Protocol. Such a great game that would be so suitable for a sequel. “

Although he was initially interested in a second installment of The Callisto Protocol, the idea fell through when he left Striking Distance Studios. And a remake of Dead Space 2 is also unlikely, as the rights for a new edition are held by EA Motive.

What Schofield is ultimately planning remains to be seen – but the new year is not far away. We are excited and will keep you up to date!
