So the fans’ expectations are not getting any smaller: A developer of the Cyberpunk successor is already promising great things

It was only last year that cyberpunk fans were served an outstanding conclusion to V’s story with the expansion (Phantom Liberty) and now it’s time to move on. Work is now continuing on the sequel, codenamed Orion

Because work on (Cyberpunk 2) has officially begun. This is evident from a tweet by a developer, who is already using big words in the same breath.

Even better than Cyberpunk 2077?

The developer in question is Igor Sarzyński, Narrative Director at CD Projekt Red. He recently joined the rest of the Orion development team at the US office in Boston, where the cyberpunk sequel is being created

According to him, there were two occasions to celebrate there: Firstly, the reunion of old friends, and secondly, the official start of development on Cyberpunk 2.

And there’s another important piece of information in this tweet: According to Igor Sarzyński, Cyberpunk 2077 was just a warm-up game. Apparently, the aim with Orion is to surpass its predecessor in terms of gameplay quality. Fans should hope that this ambitious goal will be achieved. After all, CD Projekt has already had negative experiences in this respect

During the development of Cyberpunk 2077, the team realized that they had fallen short of their own goals. Some features had to be removed, and the game was also in a technically precarious state at the time of release. Nevertheless, CD Projekt is confident that it has learned important lessons for the future from its mistakes.

Is history repeating itself? Nobody hopes so, of course, but CD Projekt Red hasn’t exactly made their job any easier with this announcement.

What are your expectations for Cyberpunk 2? What features would you like to see in the sequel, what improvements in terms of technology and gameplay do you think are urgently needed? Do you think CD Projekt is capable of surpassing its great predecessor? Let us know your opinion in the comments!
