A week full of potential hits awaits, role-playing and strategy fans should take a particularly close look

Survival games are back in vogue on Steam: last week Palworld hit like a bomb, and this week Enshrouded could be the next title to take Valve’s gaming platform by storm.

But strategy and action fans will also get their money’s worth this week, as there are some big names waiting for you.

Highlight of the week: Enshrouded

Genre: Open-World-Survival – Developer: Keen Games – Release: January 24 (Steam / Early Access)

With Enshrouded, the first big open world 2024 is in the starting blocks: The survival game from German studio Keen Games presents you with a hand-built game world of around 25 square kilometers with various biomes that you can explore and reshape solo or with up to 15 other players.

A core aspect of the game is the innovative building system, which offers almost unlimited possibilities thanks to the use of a specially developed engine and voxel technology. Everything in the world can be destroyed and manipulated, which is intended to take creativity in base building to new dimensions.

Otherwise, Enshrouded is characterized by a mixture of survival and role-playing elements. You not only collect all kinds of resources and craft for all you’re worth. You also gain experience, improve your character stats and select abilities from an extensive skill tree to develop roughly in three directions – warrior, ranger or mage.

More releases of the week

Monday, January 22nd

  • (Pirates Journey (Early Access): And another survival game! Here, however, you become pirates stranded on a tropical island. The focus is on multiplayer and PvP.

Tuesday, January 23

  • (Stargate: Timekeepers): A real-time tactics game à la Commandos, but with a Stargate license. The story takes place after the seventh season of the series and tells an alternative story in which you lead a new SG commando. Familiar characters such as Captain O’Neill or Teal’C are missing.

Midweek, January 24

  • (Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy): Capcom’s visual novel series turns you into a lawyer and lets you solve 16 cases by gathering evidence, questioning witnesses and arguing in court.
  • (Roots of Yggdrasil (Early Access): Not a classic building game, because to raise your Viking village you have to skillfully assemble a strong deck of cards and play your buildings as cards.
  • (Anomaly Agent): A 2D cyberpunk platformer with a quirky but cool graphic style. As a secret agent, you have to stop anomalies that threaten to destroy the entire world.

Thursday, January 25

  • (Mad World – Age of Darkness): In this Free2Play MMORPG from the iso perspective, you are thrown into a dark world where you can seamlessly team up with other players to smash huge hordes of enemies.

Friday, January 26

  • (Into the Necrovale (Early Access): To round off the week, a Hades-style action roguelike awaits, in which everything revolves around finding powerful items that all interact with each other and thus enable powerful builds.
  • (Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth): Ichiban Kasuga returns in the next installment of the JRPG spin-off of the Yakuza series, this time making the paradisiacal Hawaii unsafe.
  • (Tekken 8): After a nine-year break, there’s exactly what you’d expect from a new Tekken: tough fights, 32 old and new characters, an overly dramatic story and an opulent storm of effects, which you can best watch directly in the trailer:

Phew, a pretty exciting week full of potential hits awaits you. Which game are you most looking forward to this time? Are you excited about the unique base building in Enshrouded?
