Squid Game: After a wait of 3 years, the release of season 2 is finally in sight

Finally. Squid Game: Season 2 is something like a release in sight. At least there’s now confirmation: it’s really due in 2024

Are you waiting for Squid Game: Season 2? Then we have good news for you! There’s no specific release date yet, but one thing’s for sure: The excellent Netflix series will definitely continue in 2024.

This is according to a new quarterly report from Netflix – as Variety reports. Season 2 is listed by Netflix as one of the major releases for 2024. The announcement of a detailed release date should therefore not be too long in coming.

The long wait for more Squid Game

The filming of the second season was finished in 2023. So one could already expect the new episodes to hit this year – probably sometime between summer and winter 2024.

The first season of Squid Game started in September 2021 and quickly became a global phenomenon. In fact, Hwang Dong-hyuk’s TV project was the most successful Netflix series of all time (even if the series creator only benefits to a limited extent), but has since been replaced by Wednesday starring Jenna Ortega.

There is currently a gap of a whopping three years between seasons 1 and 2, but the long wait was actually foreseeable. Series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk let it be known during the groundbreaking success of Squid Game that he had yet to start developing a continuing story

By the way: In the meantime, Netflix has already started a reality show about Squid Game which has already been renewed for a second season. However, there has been harsh criticism of the production from some participants, some of whom have described the filming as inhumane  

In addition, Netflix is reportedly working on a US remake of Squid Game, in which even David Fincher (Seven, Fight Club) is involved. At least that’s what the established industry insider Jeff Sneider claims to have heard. However, this is not officially confirmed at the moment!
