Big Steam sale started: 13 cool games are heavily discounted this week

This week’s Steam Sale features the most powerful combination of all: pirates and ninjas! Of course, there are also various other good games, some of which are heavily discounted

There are combinations that should never come together because they are simply too powerful together: Ketchup and mayo, Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee and yes, of course, ninjas and pirates. But it is precisely these cosmic powers that are now coming together: in the current Steam sale on pirates and ninjas! Various games are heavily discounted that are about – and hold on to your hats – pirates and/or ninjas

But of course we know that there are people out there like our podcast host Micha Graf who don’t like pirates or ninjas, so today we recommend a colorful mix of 13 cool, heavily discounted games with and beyond pirates and ninjas. Hua!

Highlight of the week: Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin

  • Genre: Real-time strategy
  • Release: November 17, 2023
  • Price & discount: 30 euros, 50 percent off
  • Offer valid until: January 27, 2024

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin is doubly controversial: Firstly, it has nothing to do with ninjas or pirates, and secondly, the strategy game on Steam has a fairly poor balance of reviews. Many criticize the lack of depth, especially in the multiplayer

But we know our community: you like intense campaigns – and this is where Realms of Ruin can score points, especially as there aren’t that many excursions into the Age of Sigmar fantasy universe in video game form. Compared to classic Warhammer Fantasy, everything has been turned up a notch here, just like in 40,000; there are fantasy space marines and, and, and.

The fact that it’s already 50 percent off less than three months after release doesn’t speak for the sales figures, of course, and you shouldn’t expect a lively online community (only 20 people worldwide are playing at the moment). But if you fancy a good real-time strategy campaign again, it might be worth it for 30 euros

So, now let’s talk about pirates, ninjas and the other recommendations of the week

  • Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice: The sequel to the intense story adventure will soon be released, so it’s the perfect time to catch up on Senua’s oppressive journey through early Britain with a 90 percent discount for 3 euros.
  • Shadow Tactics: Aiko’s Choice: The real-time tactics cracker Shadow Tactics is permanently heavily discounted, but the add-on Aiko’s Choice is currently discounted like never before. A 75 percent discount for 5 euros if you like stealth action with ninjas. And who doesn’t?
  • Green Hell: Want to die a miserable death because you forgot to wash your fingers before eating in the South American jungle? Green Hell is available at an unprecedented 50 percent discount for 10.50 euros.
  • Sea of Thieves has been tempting our editor Michi Obermeier and his crew to rob other people for years. Also in the game. Over the years, the open world has developed into a real masterpiece for pirate fans. The so-called 2023 Edition is currently available on Steam for 20 euros (50 percent discount), alternatively the game is also included in the Game Pass.
  • Soma: The less you know about this cool sci-fi adventure game, the better. Soma is available with a 90 percent discount for less than 3 euros.
  • Disco Elysium: We’re already teasing our editor Steffi about how often she raves about this incredibly good role-playing game. You should play it anyway – especially for 10 euros (75 percent discount).
  • Snowrunner is the most effective beard-growing agent on the market, because you can only maneuver your motor vehicles through this slushy world if you are tough as nails and weatherproof. And that’s what people with beards are. Costs 15 euros, 50 percent discount.
  • Quantum Break: Do you like story shooters with cool time travel gimmicks? Quantum Break costs just 9 euros and is still worth it in 2024,
  • Trine Ultimate Collection: All five parts of this sensationally good fantasy series are currently available for 33 euros (72 percent off). If you like platformers, co-op and fantasy, then there’s a lot in here.
  • Ghostrunner is one of the best ninja games ever and also features cyberpunk and super fast acrobatics; the only thing you’ll have to make friends with is failure, because Ghostrunner doesn’t forgive mistakes. The first part is 70 percent off for 9 euros.
  • Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire is probably the best pirate role-playing game out there. And the only one besides Risen 2, hehe. For 10 euros (75 percent off) you definitely can’t go wrong here.

Of course, it’s not just Steam that has something going on, until Thursday you still have the opportunity to grab this week’s free game on Epic, for example. And for shooter fans in particular, Microsoft’s Game Pass has included a really cool new candidate since January 2024: Hell Let Loose. Some of the Steam games featured in this article are also available in Game Pass, including Sea of Thieves, Quantum Break and Pillars of Eternity 2. You’d think Microsoft likes pirates and ninjas.

Is there something for you this week? Or are you still stuck on Baldur’s Gate 3 anyway? Let us know in the comments, we’re here among ourselves.
