You can now get a taste of the new Super Mario game before its release in February

The Nintendo Switch is expected to enter its final year in 2024. The rumor mill has been spitting out exciting information about the Switch 2 for some time now. Does this mean that the old handheld hybrid has had its day? Not at all

There are still a few highlights coming out this year for the Switch. Mario vs. Donkey Kong is one of them, it is the remake of the original released in 2004 for the Game Boy Advance, which at the time received good ratings

Now there’s a demo in the Nintendo eShop. If you don’t yet know whether the title, which will be released on February 16, 2024, is for you, you now have the chance to find out.

What’s Mario vs. Donkey Kong all about?

In typical Nintendo fashion, the plot is more of an accessory than a main game element: Donkey Kong is watching TV and sees a commercial for cute Mario toy figures. The monkey wants one, darts into town to the store and looks at a Sold Out sign.

DK wouldn’t be DK if he just scampered back home. No, he simply steals them all from the factory and Mario catches him stealing them. Without further ado, the plumber sets off in pursuit

In the proud 130 levels you have to flip switches, solve puzzles, avoid enemies and more – all in order to reach the door to the next stage at the end. Sounds simple, but it becomes more challenging later on in the game, not least due to the time limit.

This overview trailer shows you more of the gameplay:

How do I install the demo?  Pick up your Nintendo Switch, open the eShop and go to the Mario vs Donkey Kong store page. There you will find the button Download demo

You can even try out the demo in local co-op. Then one of you slips into the skin of Mario, the other plays Toad and can support the plumber.

Have you tried out the demo and if so, how do you like the game so far? Or are you not at all interested in Mario vs. Donkey Kong and are waiting for the next big 3D Mario adventure? Will you be getting the Switch successor right at release or will you wait until the game selection is bigger? Let us know in the comments!
