The release of Squid Game: Season 2 is finally in sight! Netflix has now released new images and even a first scene from the new episodes

2024 Season 2 of Squid Game is finally starting on Netflix. We don’t know exactly when yet. But the streaming service is slowly cranking up the advertising carousel in preparation for the new episodes of the series by Hwang Dong-Hyuk

First images and a scene from Squid Game: Season 2

What to see now Netflix has released four images for the second season and also a first scene. Among other things, they show Gi-Hun (Lee Jung-jae), who swore revenge on the people behind the Squid Game at the end of season 1. This is also the subject of the scene in question, in which Gi-Hun makes a momentous decision

The photos also show two other returnees: The Salesman (Gong Yoo) and the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun). In addition, actress Park Gyu-young is a new addition to the cast for the sequel to Squid Game.

There are currently no concrete details about the story of season 2. However, the images shown at least hint that Gi-Hun will take part in the deadly games for a second time. And this could of course involve the Salesman, who recruited Gi-Hun for the Squid Game in the first season.

A final trailer for Squid Game: Season 2 and an exact release date are still a long way off. The new episodes are scheduled to start on Netflix sometime in 2024.

And if you’re wondering why the second season has been so long in coming: Series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk only began developing the story shortly after the release of season 1. Neither he nor Netflix had probably expected the groundbreaking success of Squid Game.

This meant that season 2 had to be written first, which is why filming was not completed until the end of 2023. Netflix revealed who is returning or joining the cast for the new episodes of Squid Game in the following video:

By the way: A reality show about Squid Game has now started on Netflix and has already been renewed for a second season. However, the spin-off was also harshly criticized by some of the participants, who described the filming conditions as inhumane.

A US remake of Squid Game is also rumored to be in the works, which could even involve David Fincher (Seven, Fight Club). However, this has not yet been officially confirmed.
