Nightingale: When is our test coming?

The new big survival game gets a lot of criticism on Steam for connection problems and the lack of offline mode. Even GlobalESportNews is stuck with the test

The Early Access of Nightingale has started and first user tests on Steam do not paint a good picture of the survival game. But what about the GlobalESportNews rating tendency and a first conclusion from the editorial team? We inform you about our review plans and the background of the delay.

Unlike usual there were no pre-release test versions of Nightingale; editorial teams from all over the world were only allowed to start playing at the Early Access launch yesterday, February 20, 2024 at 6 p.m. German time – along with all regular buyers.

The fact that the servers of the always-online game initially collapsed under the onslaught (over 47,000 simultaneous players on Steam) did not make the task any easier for our tester Elena Schulz. Because Nightingale has no offline mode, the Steam reviews are correspondingly poor (55 percent positive out of 1,800 reports).

This is how we test Nightingale

In contrast to other games, as journalists we didn’t have a head start on the review, so you’ll have to wait a while before we can give an official recommendation (or warning) to buy Nightingale. At least editor Stephanie Schlottag was able to play an advanced preview version in advance. Her conclusion was optimistic:

Author Elena is currently playing the survival game virtually around the clock in order to complete the test as quickly as possible. Our plan for the coming days is therefore as follows:

  • On Thursday, February 22 at the latest, we will provide you with a first preliminary review of Nightingale with basic impressions of the gameplay, story, technology and server situation of the survival game.
  • At the same time, GameStar’s video editorial team is working on an article with our own footage. We will probably publish this or the complete test video   by the weekend or shortly afterwards.
  • By the end of this week or the beginning of next week, Elena will finalize her written test and assign a rating tendency including a preliminary rating box As an Early Access title, Nightingale does not receive a final rating for the time being.
  • Of course, we’ll be following the release with news, initial reactions from the community and guides from our team of authors to make sure you don’t miss anything important.

In Nightingale, you travel through portals to procedurally generated worlds, collect resources, expand your base and fight enemies. It is the debut work of developer Inflexion Games from Canada
