Big update and new season: With Desolation’s Wake, Hunt is changing the way matches are played
In Hunt: Showdown the first event of 2024 starts with a new hotspot that is at least as hard-fought on the maps as the boss opponents themselves!
The corresponding patch 1.16 also expands the arsenal of weapons even further. Here you can find all the important information about the update and Desolation’s Wake!
Start of the event: March 6 from 8:00 am
End of the event: May 8 at 9 a.m.
A new focal point on the map
Hunt modifies the previous event concept and adds a new and particularly hotly contested loot location to each map, the Sealed Cache. Whoever conquers the cache can secure tangible advantages! This is what the coveted location looks like:
In Desolation’s Wake, we’re introducing two all-new gun families.

A sealed cache is placed in the Open World each match and contains a number of powerful upgrades that you can unlock there with previously earned Pledge Marks:
- Bounty Token: Single Bounty including Dark Sight Boost (2 tokens)
- Master Clue: Instantly reveals all boss hideouts on the map (1 token)
- Health Kit: Regenerate your Hunter to full HP (1 token)
- Four Shot Boon: Grants you all four top effects (1 token)
- Experience Boon: Grants you a lot of XP immediately (1 token)
- Big Cash Register: Cash register with a lot of Hunt Dollars (1 token)
- Restock Box: Fill up all your ammunition and tools completely (1 token)
- Explosive Box: Contains three explosives, such as dynamite & Co. (1 token)
You can already tell: The table is richly set if you can claim this new location for yourself! Sealed caches will be at least as competitive as the bosses. Battles between several teams are almost inevitable with so much loot
With factions again, but different
As usual in the events, you will have to find clues, loot dead hunters, find and destroy altars or banish boss targets to get tokens. Each player can carry up to four tokens at the same time.
The pact system is also returning, but this time you can join one of the factions at supply points for free and don’t have to spend any tokens. These are intended for sealed caches
New weapons, skins & more
Of course, there is once again a Battle Pass in a free and a premium version (for the price of 1,000 Blood Bonds). This includes lots of new skins, weapon tags, story chapters and a few brand new guns:
- Caldwell Marathon: A pump-action rifle based on the real Colt Lightning with compact ammunition (also comes in a Swift variant for fast reloading).
- Mako 1895 Carbine: The first lever-action rifle from Hunt with long ammunition (also comes in an aperture version with sights and a claw version with blade).
Here are the two new additions to the arsenal in action:
With the arrival of fresh munitions, the contest to claim them grew heated.

At the same time, Crytek has made extensive improvements to the balancing and revised the recruitment mechanics for new Hunters.
The legendary hunter called Headsman, hated by many Hunt fans, has been visually reworked and now stands out better against the vegetation thanks to its red coloring.
Desolation’s Wake is likely to be the last event before the big change in Hunt: Showdown. The big engine upgrade and a new map are planned for spring 2024
