Quick travel in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a little more complicated than in other open-world games. We explain what options are available

The world of Dragon’s Dogma 2 is said to be four times the size of its predecessor. So getting from one end to the other can take a really long time, not to mention possible distractions and dangers along the way. If you want to shorten the travel time, you have two options, but both come at a price. We’ll explain how fast travel works in the role-playing game.

Quick travel with travel tokens

What do I need? As the title suggests, you need a travel token for every fast journey. You can get this from some merchants, but it will cost you around 10,000 gold  This type of fast travel is therefore quite limited.

Alternatively, you can also sometimes findtravel stones when looting defeated enemies. It’s best to look for golems that you may encounter later in the game. Several of these monsters can be found here:

(The golems spawn again after you have defeated them. So you can kill them again and again to get travel stones)
(The golems spawn again after you have defeated them. So you can kill them again and again to get travel stones)

How does it work? You can use travel stones to travel to the target crystals found in some towns and settlements. If you have a stone in your inventory, you can simply select the desired destination and you will be teleported there. Your travel stone will be consumed in the process

In the course of the game, you can also occasionally find destination crystalsthat you can place yourself at a location of your choice. This allows you to travel to destinations that do not have their own crystal

Quick travel by oxcart

What do I need? Traveling by oxcart costs you far less than buying travel stones, namely between 100 and 1000 gold depending on your destination. The medieval cab is available in villages and towns and allows you to travel faster than on foot.

How does it work? You will find ox-cart stations in most settlements, marked on the map with an ox. As the carts only wait at certain times of the day, you can fast-forward the time until departure. You then have to sit down on the bench in the cart to start the journey.

But be warned: although a ride in an oxcart is faster than on foot, it is anything but safe. Although you will be accompanied by a band of soldiers, you may encounter rampaging goblins or hungry griffins along the way. It can also be quite dangerous to get into someone else’s wagon along the way!

In an interview before release, a developer explained why there is no conventional fast travel in Dragon’s Dogma 2. According to him, this can be a sign of a boring world. Wandering through a game world without teleporting could be fun if you experience adventures along the way
