This week, you can pick up two free games from the Epic Games Store and keep them forever. We briefly introduce them

You can still pick up a new game for free every week in the Epic Games Store. This time, two titles are even being given away. To get them, all you have to do is log in to your Epic account by April 11 and grab them. We’ll tell you who might find the games worthwhile here.

The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition

(Genre: Role-playing game – Release: October 2019 – Developer: Obsidian Entertainment)

(To the free game )

We recently found out in our survey that Fallout: New Vegas is also the best part of the series for many of you. Although the developers were never allowed to develop a second Fallout, in 2019 we did get The Outer Worlds, which sends us on an adventure in space.

In our test, the sci-fi role-playing game revealed itself as the spiritual successor to Fallout: New Vegas, which was particularly impressive with its excellently written dialog and wacky humor. Our testers were also impressed by the many smaller stories and the quests of the various companions. Different solutions for tasks also increase the replay value

The Outer Worlds is not quite as huge as a Fallout game, however. If you really want to see everything in the main game and the expansions, you will be occupied for a maximum of around 50 hours. The game’s smaller budget is also noticeable in the world, choice of weapons and variety of enemies.

The Spacer’s Choice Edition given away by Epic contains all of the game’s expansions as well as minor graphics improvements. However, these cause technical problems on some systems.

Thief

(Genre: Stealth game – Release: February 2014 – Developer: Eidos Montreal)

(To the free game)

The second free game you can pick up from the Epic Store is the reboot of the classic stealth game series Thief from 2014. In our test the title did not fully convince us at the time, as on the one hand it could not capture the charm and complexity of the original everywhere and on the other hand it did not dare to introduce enough significant innovations.

If you like sneaking and stealing, you can still have fun with Thief however. The levels are more linear than in the predecessors, but we still dart elegantly from shadow to shadow, occasionally take out a guard and bag lots of treasures.

Do you like one of the two free games and have you added it to your library right away? Have you already played The Outer Worlds or Thief yourself and can you recommend or advise others against them? Or are you not really convinced by either game? Let us know in the comments!
