One player has defeated all fragment carriers in Elden Ring using a saxophone as a controller. And that without being hit even once
Elden Ring has conjured up many seemingly impossible challenges in recent years. Game runs in which the player cannot be hit are just the tip of the iceberg
Even the streamer Dr. DeComposing did not find this task challenging enough. That’s why he set out to defeat all of the game’s fragment carriers without scoring a single hit, using an electric saxophone as a controller.
Musically to victory
Defeating all fragment bearers in Elden Ring is even more challenging than completing the Soulslike normally. This is because the otherwise optional boss Malenia must be defeated. The demigoddess is considered by the community to be the most difficult opponent in the entire game and drives many players to despair even under normal circumstances.
How the controller works: The unusual controller from Dr. DeComposed naturally makes the whole thing much more difficult. As he revealed in a video, every sound played triggers the actions of a specific button. This also applies to the camera movement. Only the character’s movement is controlled by a tone bending wheel attached to the back of the instrument
After many hours of painstaking training, he actually managed to disable all the fragment carriers without taking any damage. You can see the finale of his insane project here:
ANOTHER WORLD FIRST!
Last night I beat Elden Ring (including all of the game’s 7 Great Rune bosses: Godrick, Rennala, Radahn, Rykard, Morgott, Mohg, & Malenia) without taking a single hit while using a saxophone as the game controller!

A professional at work
Back in August 2023, Dr. DeComposing completed the challenging Soulslike Elden Ring with a saxophone as controller without being hit. This made him the first person to complete this challenge with an unusual controller
However, this was a so-called any%-Run
All he had to do was complete the game or reach the credits. Optional content did not play a role in the victory, which is why Malenia did not have to be defeated.
What do you think of Dr. DeComposed’s daring challenge? Would you have thought it was possible to play Elden Ring with a musical instrument? Can you guess which cartoon character the streamer’s character is based on? Have you ever tried a challenge in Elden Ring? We’d love to hear about your experiences, so please post them in the comments!
