The multiplayer shooter will not get another season. Smaller updates will continue, but the focus is now on a successor

Many fans have probably already suspected it, but now it’s official: Season 7 was the final chapter of Battlefield 2042. The controversial shooter will no longer receive any new content and will only be supported with minor updates. Instead, the developers now want to focus entirely on the future of the series

What’s next for Battlefield 2042?

Of course, the multiplayer shooter will not be completely abandoned. Over the next few months, some content will be released for Season 7, such as a new version of a well-known map, a fighter jet and a new assault rifle. And even after that, players can still expect updates that may include the following:

  • Challenges
  • Events
  • Game modes
  • Maintenance work (balance changes, bug fixes, etc.)

After the disastrous launch of Battlefield 2042, the developers would like to do things differently for their next game, as the return to the class system suggests. Our shooter expert Phil already has a clear idea of what the new Battlefield needs to achieve. Find out which seven improvements he thinks are essential in his column.
