The new Mad Max movie is going all out. According to lead actress Anya Taylor-Joy, we can look forward to “the longest scene we’ve ever shot”

When you think of Mad Max: Fury Road, the first thing that comes to mind is probably the spectacular action scenes, which still leave you open-mouthed even after the umpteenth viewing.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Story should also shine in this discipline. As has now been revealed, the film, which will be released in cinemas on May 23, 2024 has a very important scene that is likely to get people talking.

Impressive figures raise hopes of action fireworks

In an interview with Total Film Magazine producer Doug Mitchell and lead actress Anya Taylor-Joy recently spoke about the prequel to Fury Road, which will show us the origins of the valiant Furiosa.

Of course, they don’t reveal much about the plot. But there is one statement that makes you sit up and take notice. Let it melt in your mouth, we’ll put it in a new paragraph:

15 minute long action scene Almost 200 stunt people&nbspworked on it – day in, day out and for 78 days!

If you’re not yet looking forward to Furiosa, you should urgently watch the trailer:

The longest scene we’ve ever shot

The film crew referred to the scene on set as The Stairway to Nowhere and the aforementioned topic of conversation is likely to result primarily from the visual presentation, which will be typically Mad Max brutal.

But why is the scene so important in terms of content?  Because, according to Anya Taylor-Joy, it represents a turning point for Furiosa s character development. She doesn’t give any details, but she does reveal the reason for the scene’s enormous length:

George [Miller, the film’s director, editor’s note] and I often talked about why this particular scene is so long. The reason is that over the course of a fight you see an accumulation of skills and that’s very important in this case to understand how resourceful Furiosa is, but also to demonstrate her fighting spirit.

It’s the longest sequence we’ve ever shot. The day we finished, everyone got a Stairway To Nowherewine!

In Furiosa, the eponymous title heroine has to deal with the warlord Dementus (Chris Hemsworth) and his biker horde. Furiosa is driven by revenge and at the same time searching for her family.

There are also a few fresh set pictures showing more of the characters and the elaborate set design:

And what about Mad Max? For a long time, fans assumed that the actual main character of the film series would not be seen in this prequel, but a hint from director George Miller has now given rise to hope.

If the prospect of 15 minutes of spectacle isn’t enough for you, we have more good news for you: The film team has even built an aircraft engine into a motorcycle and yes, the behemoth actually works, as the movie will prove to you in a few weeks.
