Skins are now part of every online shooter, but how far can developers go? While Fortnite takes the whole thing to the extreme, other shooters remain true to themselves and rely on genre-typical skins. Call of Duty currently seems to be at a crossroads between the two paths
Joke or realism?
For years, Call in Duty has been making headlines with sometimes unusual collaborations and skin creations. Whether Godzilla x King Kong, soccer players like Messi and Neymar or a simple cat skin. Meanwhile, there seems to be no limit to what skins or collaborations with other franchises are possible
There are crazy skins in Call of Duty because more people are buying those skins than any other skins.

The newly announced skins are no exception. It seems that the particularly crazy, colorful and eye-catching skins are the most popular with the community, at least that’s what the sales figures suggest.
However, there is always harsh criticism of the colorful skins, which for some players simply don’t fit in with a military shooter like Call of Duty. They now disparagingly compare Warzone and co. with Fortnite and want more realism in CoD.

While the skins often cause a stir with their appearance alone, the recently released B.E.A.S.T. Glove made negative headlines due to its price. Players had to fork out a hefty €80 to be able to call the skin their own, a scandal in the eyes of most players.
The same rule applies in Call of Duty as in any other game. The developers will always continue to release what has sold well so far. It speaks for itself that new cartoon, anime and other fluffy skins are always being released.
Ultimately, we all have a say in which skins are released in Call of Duty in the future. For now, however, it looks like we’ll have to say goodbye to the hope of getting more realistic skins
