Project Frontier should also offer plenty of room for user-generated content – it should even be possible to create your own game modes

If you like a survival game like Valheim, but don’t have the time for all the gathering and crafting, Project Frontiermight be the right middle ground.

The role-playing game from Studio OCP gives you, in the style of Helldivers 2, only a limited amount of timeto complete your main mission, which ensures that game rounds are always completed – successfully or not.

Crafting and base building – but with Turbo

Project Frontier sends youwith two other players, a main mission and about40 minutestime in a procedurally generated world.

With the minimum of equipment typical of the survival genre, it’s time to collect and craft – just like in Valheim. The time limit is added by the Helldivers influence

By the way, we didn’t come up with the comparison, the two studio founders and brothers Mike and Nick Atamas use it themselves and talk about the idea behind Project Frontier in the following video.

Since you only have a little time, you don’t need to cut down trees forever, for example. Once you have trimmed a few with your axe, you can build a sawmill and your NPCs will collect wood for you.

Using theautomated resource productionyou can quickly craft better equipment, expand your base and devote yourself to the main mission, which changes every round.

However, there are also other teams in your match. Whether you choose the path ofcooperation or confrontationis up to you.

Players should be creative themselves

Integrated into the game is a tool calledCreatorLab Players will be able to create theirown contenthere. The possibilities should range from modifying and creating new items, creating complete quests to creating your own game modes.

It should be possible to share your own content with others so that the community has access to an ever-growing library of game elements.

If Project Frontier has piqued your interest, you can register for the playtests on Steam It is unknown exactly when these will be held, but the release is not planned until 2025.

Project Frontier gets rid of the tedious gathering and crafting typical of the genre and speeds up the game significantly. Do you think this combination can work? What do you think of the many modding options? Incidentally, these should also be usable in the current game. Let us know what you think in the comments.
