As already mentioned, you can play as anobleman in the Byzantine Empirewith the addon. There is no feudal system there, but an administrative government. You have to intrigue your way to the top of the political system and outdo other powerful families at the imperial court. The more power you gain, the better you can place your preferred candidates in important government positions.
For those who prefer a less political approach, you canroam the land as a mercenary This may sound romantic to medieval fans at first, but this style of play is also based on tough calculations. With every mission you complete, you not only gain experience, but also make contacts and gain more influence until you eventually reach for power
More new features of Roads to Power
- Family Estate: Even if you don’t own your own land, you still have your own family estate, the seat of your clan. You can construct new buildings there to increase your influence.
- Heir: You can appoint your successor to provide for the worst-case scenario. This can be a family member, a powerful noble or a war hero.
- New Byzantine-themed content: This includes world events, monuments and special activities, such as chariot races.
