In an almost 30-minute presentation, Obsidian shows details about the combat system, among other things. A concrete release date is also circulating on social networks

The next, long-awaited role-playing game from Obsidian, Avowedwill be released in fall 2024.At this year’s Xbox showcase, the developer showed off new gameplay content and a little more.

But there was apparently an oversight during the presentation, which is why the possible release date is now circulating on social networks.

You can get a first impression of the game in the new trailer:

No statement on release date yet

Release:It has been clear for some time that Avowed will be released in 2024. During the Xbox showcase, however, the exact release date was apparently published by mistake. For a short time, the official Obsidian website is said to have listed November 12 as the release date.

On X (formerly Twitter) there is a corresponding screenshot on several accounts. The date was removed from the Obsidian homepage only a short time later. During the live presentation, the developers only announced that the game would be released this year

To date, there has been no statement from Obsidian or Xbox as to whether the date is correct.

Surprisingly in third-person?

Third-person camera:Avowed was initially announced in July 2020 as a purely first-person role-playing game andcould actually have filled the gap left by Skyrim.

During the Xbox showcase, Obsidian’s game director Carrie Patel announced that there will also be another perspective. You can hear the quote in the video linked below at minute 10:44:

Much of the footage we’ll see today is in first-person perspective, but we also have a third-person option for players who prefer that.

Gameplay:In the 30-minute presentation, Carrie Patel also showed off some new gameplay content. After starting in the Emerald Stair region, the presentation continued with some battles, quests and side quests.

The combat system in particular was criticized at a presentation in January. This has since been improved again, as announced in February. Can be seen from minute 6:35 and 15:00 in the video embedded above

In the further course there is dialog with party members (7:20), the own camp is visited (10:30) and items and character attributes are improved (11:08 and 13:30).

Avowed is set in the world of Eora, which already served as the setting for the role-playing games Pillars of Eternity 1 and 2 developed by Obsidian. Avowed does without an open world, but aims to give players a great deal of freedom of choice in the quests.

The role-playing game will be released for PC and Xbox Series X/S and will be available directly in the Game Pass on release.
