In pen & paper games, a lot happens in the imagination of the players – but fans always come up with something to give the game a more tactile feel

An inventory system like Tetris exists in various video games. Prominent examples include Diablo 2, Resident Evil 4 and a large part of the extraction shooter genre. But what works digitally can also be used in an analog way.

A D&D player shows off hisDIY inventory on Reddit, and the community is enthusiastic about the idea.

Reddit user pixl3r presents his DIY project in a short video post and also explains what he used for his inventory system.

I made a video game style inventory system!

The “grid” itself istwo pieces of cardboard glued together, with the top one cut out for the desired size of the inventory. Pixl3r used the tiles from the board game Scrabble as the dimensions

The items areaccording to the item sizeglued together bricks onto which swords, axes and other items from Lego are glued. If there is no toy miniature, pixl3r writes the desired item on the bricks

Each square corresponds toone pound of weight that a character can carry. The load capacity can be individually adjusted via the size of the “grid”

There’s no need for too much craftsmanship here. If you weren’t taken away the craft scissors in kindergarten, you should be able to build something similar yourself with very simple means.

Community celebrates the DIY inventory

The post, which currently has 3,600 upvotes and a good 130 comments, has received a lot of praise for the work.“That’s incredibly creative. I love it “, writesfityfive

The proximity of video games and pen&paper has existed for a long time and both inspire each other to new ideas. Larian’s role-playing game Baldur’s Gate 3 has not only brought a lot of attention to Dungeons & Dragons itself, but has also had a major influence on the future of the game, as the latest news about adjustments to the rulebook show.
