No Man’s Sky has delivered numerous free updates over the past few years. And the latest one offers a perfect opportunity to try out the game
I have to admit that I was dazzled byNo Man’s Skyin 2016. The idea behind the game alone fascinated me so much that I enthusiastically pre-ordered it. My disappointment was then huge and I didn’t touch the game for years
But of course, like probably all of us, I’ve noticed how much the space game has changed since then. With over 30 huge and free updates, Hello Games has distributed heaps of new content across the galaxy and made numerous improvements to No Man’s Sky. Now the time has come for me to get back into the game and I can only recommend it to you too
Giant update and huge discount
There are two reasons for this: Firstly, you can get No Man’s Sky cheaper than ever beforein the Steam sale Until July 29, the game is still 60 percent off andcosts 24 instead of 60 euros
But even more important is the latest update, which bears the promising nameWorlds Part One
. It’s so gigantic and comprehensive that the trailer alone convinced me to play again:
What’s in the update?
If I were to list all the changes here, I could fly to Mars in this time. I will therefore limit myself to the most important things, the complete overview can be found on the official website
One of the biggest points for me are the improvements to the graphics and the representation of planets.Because No Man’s Sky now looks even more impressive and is barely recognizable as the game it was released as in 2016.
- The clouds have been completely reworked and now look much more realistic. There are also more different clouds and they change according to the weather conditions.
- Shadows are now much more detailed, which makes the planetary flora in particular look much better.
- The water has also been completely reworked and now looks much better. Even waves and surf are generated.
- Wind now moves grass, plants and trees and even affects rain and snow. Storms also generate high waves in oceans.
- Some world types have been spruced up, such as ice and desert planets. There are also new planet types where you can discover fancy floating islands or particularly rich flora and fauna.
- Technical improvements make denser, more detailed worlds possible.
As the name of the update suggests, the developers of No Man’s Sky are far from finished. There will be at least a second part of the Worlds update, which could be just as extensive. But for me, No Man’s Sky is already one of the best space games you can currently find with part one
