As every Monday, we’re showing you these most exciting new releases on Steam and this week we’re going back to the late 90s and early 2000s, when real-time strategy was still the most popular genre.
Back then, games like Warcraft, Starcraft and Command & Conquer dominated the gaming world, followed by titleslike the still-great fan-favorite Paraworld- and this week sees the release of an RTS hopeful that aims to bring back that golden era. Highlight of the week: Stormgate
(Genre: Real-time strategy –Developer: Frost Giant –Release: July 30 (Steam / Early Access)
The new real-time strategy gameStormgatefrom Frost Giant Studios is the work of true veterans who have previously worked on games such as Warcraft 3 and Starcraft 2. Their latest work is set in a post-apocalyptic world in which humanity is fighting against alien invaders
In terms of gameplay, you get what you would expect from a classic RTS: You build bases, collect resources and build up a powerful force to achieve victory. The game offers various modes, including a campaign, an online 1v1 leaderboard and co-op against the AI
Just like in Starcraft, there are three factions: Human Vanguard (humans), Infernal Host (demons) and Celestial Armada (aliens), each with unique heroes and units.

- Minds Beneath Us: A dark cyberpunk adventure in which the entire world is controlled by AI – and an AI mind has also taken up residence in your head.
Thursday, August 1
- Sword of Convallaria: A classic Japanese tactical role-playing game in the style of Final Fantasy Tactics: collect units, train and save the world.
- Car Manufacture (Early Access): In this development game, you build a car factory, develop your own cars and then let them roll off the assembly line.
- Star Wars: Bounty Hunter: In this third-person shooter, you go on a bounty hunt as Jango Fett. The game is a remaster, the original was first released in 2002 for the Nintendo Gamecube.
Friday, August 2
- Deviator (Early Access): Finally, there’s an extremely pretty Metroidvania that is visually reminiscent of the Ori games. The special feature is the combat system, as everything revolves around parrying enemy attacks.
