After a few months of silence, Ubisoft showed a new gameplay clip for Assassin’s Creed Shadows last night. It shows the parkour skills of the stealth protagonist Naoe. The community has mixed feelings about the video.

Fans have long wished for a Japanese setting for the Assassin’s Creed series. With Shadows, this dream is finally coming true. However, despite the realization of the long-awaited setting, the upcoming title had to take some criticism even before its release. Most of the negative comments were directed at the combat character Yasuke, who is based on the historical figure of an African who was trained as a samurai in Japan. Many accused Ubisoft of wokeness, as the character had been introduced under duress and was not historically accurate

After acombative statement from the executive producerhowever, Ubisoft now seems to be pursuing a different marketing strategy.

Does Ubisoft avoid the hate from the net?

The latest gameplay clip for Assassin’s Creed Shadows only shows the Shinobi Naoe doing parkour jumps across the rooftops of a Japanese mansion. With a grappling hook and a lot of acrobatic jumps, she shimmies from rooftop to rooftop to finally get above her victims. The clip lasts just 35 seconds, but the community’s need to share it is enormous.
While some praise the jumping animations, many feel reminded of animations from previous titles. Accordingly, they seem rather clumsy and lacking in fluidity to thecriticalvoices. In addition, many critical comments are of the opinion that the jump animationsarea touch too acrobatic.

In addition to these voices, there is a third group of comments under the video. This group hopes that a corresponding gameplay clip will also be available for Yasuke. At the same time, these voices&nbspencourageUbisoft not to give much weight to the racist voices on the net and to market both protagonists from Assassin’s Creed Shadows equally.

The coming weeks will probably show whether Ubisoft responds to these requests. Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be released on November 15thfor PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Amazon Luna.
