Star Wars Outlaws.!!

The first major patch forces PS5 players to start a new savegame to avoid problems

Since August 27, pre-orderers of the Gold and Ultimate Editions have been able to play Star Wars Outlaws in Early Access, where hiccups are known to occur. A major patch should now bring improvements on the technical side, but it also has a dark side.

Patch forces restart

The first major patch with the dainty number 1.000.002 was supposed to solve problems, especially in terms of performance and bugs. However, the 8.4 GB does not only bring good news. As one user shared on Reddit, PS5 players have been left out in the cold.

Just got this email from Ubisoft. Everyone who got Star Wars Outlaws at launch are forced to delete their save game

“I just got an email from Ubisoft. Everyone who got Star Wars Outlaws for the [Early Access] launch will be forced to delete their savegame,” writes JACOAE on Reddit. Below is a screenshot of the message from the publisher, which reads:

In order to provide the best Outer Rim experience, we’ve performed maintenance to ensure everyone is playing the latest version of the game. As you are one of the affected players who had access to an older version of the game, we are aware that you may encounter some issues after this latest patch. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused […]

Once you have confirmed that you have the latest version, please start a new savegame to enjoy Star Wars Outlaws as our team intended. If you continue with a previous savegame, you will unfortunately encounter issues and game lockups.

This would mean that the head start that players received from the pre-order bonus would currently be reset to zero. And this despite the fact that the Gold Edition costs just under 110 euros. However, it looks like the problem will only affect the PS5 version of the game. So if you’re playing on PC, you’re probably not affected

Even if you downloaded Star Wars Outlaws after the patch was released, you don’t need to worry about it. This update will be installed directly and you can start your savegame as normal.

If you want to know whether the Early Access launch is worth it, take a look at our test and our playtime assessment, which we have linked above. If that’s not enough for you, we’ve also summarized the international reviews of Star Wars Outlaws for you.
