If Quidditch were played according to the rules of the Harry Potter universe, it wouldn’t necessarily be the most exciting sport for spectators. Sure, the tussle on the brooms or the escape from enchanted bludgers are definitely eye-catching. But what happens when the Golden Snitch simply decides to run away?

According to the rules from J.K. Rowling’s books, a Quidditch match only ends when the Snitch is found – catching it scores 150 points. But as the snitch has a mind of its own, such matches can sometimes drag on for days or even weeks.

In the upcoming Harry Potter game Quidditch Champions, the rules regarding the snitch have therefore been changed slightly. Instead of 150, the little golden fluttering man now only gives 30 points. A match is won when a team cracks the 100-point mark. This should keep the matches entertaining and not drag on too long.

Hits with other balls also give significantly fewer points, the change to the snitch was probably also made to make it less unpleasant and powerful. The Snitch in Quidditch Champions is also unlikely to be allowed to leave the arena.

But see for yourself, in the new gameplay trailer the developers have summarized the most important rules of the game for you
