It’s an open secret that the Illuminati will soon be on the loose in Helldivers 2. Now the first clues about the faction have emerged in the game, but the developers are dismissing this as fake news

A good Helldiver always trusts the orders of the High Commandof Super Earth and doesn’t ask awkward questions. After all, one of the most important qualities of a soldier is unconditional obedience and blind faith in the orders of his superiors. Only in this way can the spread of peace and democracy in the galaxy succeed.

Now, however, something has happened inHelldivers 2that could put the armed forces’ trust in the High Command to the test:A new enemy faction has appeared on the galactic war map.

The Illuminati are here

On Redditnumerous players recently reported that they noticed a new, purple-colored areaon the war mapthat had not existed the day before. The color does not belong to any of the known enemy types, the Automaton sectors are marked red, the insect-like Terminids orange.

Much more interesting, however, is the symbol that appears when you move the mouse pointer over the corresponding sectors.Thecircle within a circleis already familiar to players fromthe first Helldivers installmentas a symbol of the Illuminati and gives an unmistakable indication of who is occupying these sectors. After a short time, the map marking was removed again:

How does the High Command react

Anyone hoping for answers from the High Command of the Armed Forces – whose role is played by developer Arrowhead – will be disappointed. The developers simply claim that an Illuminati incursion never happened. This is fake news that is being spread to damage democracy.

The developers wrote in an in-game message that there had recently been a simple communication error that has now been fixed. The reason was allegedly a decomposing technician who had been trapped in a server farm. Hmm, delicious….

Players are taking it with humor. There are numerous comments under the Reddit post like:The Illuminati doesn’t exist. Wipe your eyes and sign up for re-education!orThis is just a far-fetched rumor, nothing to worry about.

We will probably soon find out how much cause for concern the Illuminati really have Because the presence on the map is an unmistakable indication that the Illuminati’s arrival is imminent. Or maybe not – after all, we trust the High Command of Super Earth. For democracy!
