Until now, the price was assumed to be up to $2,500. However, according to a new leak, it is not nearly as bad as that.
Update from November 21, 2024 at 2:45 p.m.: Further research has shown that the stated price of $1,900 for the RTX 5090 is probably not sustainable. Therefore, we have adjusted the article accordingly.
Many are eagerly awaiting Nvidia’s Geforce RTX 5090. Some details of the new flagship have already been leaked. However, one important question has remained unanswered so far: How much will the new top-of-the-range model cost exactly?
To date, a price range between $1,999 and $2,499 has been assumed. A new leak has now set a comparatively exact price for the RTX 5090 Founders Edition.
In detail:
- RTX 5090 probably not quite as expensive as initially feared.
- New leak assumes around $1,900 (probably $1,899).
This would make the RTX 5090 $300 more expensive at launch than the RTX 4090 at the end of 2022 That’s because the Founders Edition officially cost $1,599 two years ago. In Germany, the flagship of the RTX 40 series was launched at 1,949 euros.
The leak comes from the X-Account Bits And Chips – Eng
, which belongs to the Italian website Bits And Chips.
Damn, the GeForce RTX 5090 will cost ~$1900.

How credible is the leak?
At first glance, $1,900 seems quite realistic. It is quite possible that the RTX 5090 will hit exactly this price point. But how Bits And Chips came up with the 1,900 euros raises questions.
There is on the website an article , which says that the RTX 5090 will cost at least 1,800 euros. The author refers to unspecified rumors. And importantly, the article is from November 18, exactly like the tweet on X.
Now the question is whether the author or the creator of the tweet converted the 1,800 euros into dollars, because that does indeed add up to almost 1,900 euros (exactly 1,894 euros), or whether the rumors she is referring to perhaps speak of $1,900 and she then converted it the other way around – which in turn comes out to around €1,800 (exactly €1,804).
Since the tweet from is talking about 1,900 euros, we think the former is more likely.
How realistic are 1,800 euros for the RTX 5090?
1,800 euros would mean that the RTX 5090 enters the market at a lower price than the RTX 4090, which in turn started at 1,949 euros in the form of the Founders Edition.
However, it is much more likely that the new flagship will be more expensive than its predecessor.
There are many reasons for this: There is inflation, for example. The production of ever larger and/or more densely packed monolithic chips is also becoming more complex and expensive. A lack of competition is also likely to have an unfavorable effect on the retail price. Nvidia already dominates the high-end segment with the RTX 4090.
And that’s not likely to change anytime soon. That’s because AMD apparently doesn’t want to attack the top with the RX-8000 series at all, but rather take care of other market segments. So Nvidia is relatively free to set the price for the RTX 5090.
What else is known about the RTX 5090?
Back in September, the leaker kopite7kimi named most of the specs of Nvidia’s upcoming flagship:
- Chip designation: GB202-300-A1
- CUDA cores: 21,760 (versus 16,384 for the RTX 4090)
- Graphics memory: 32 GB GDDR7 (512-bit)
- TBP: 600 watts (vs. 450 watts for the RTX 4090)
The base clock rate should also be 2,900 MHz. For comparison: the RTX 4090 clocks at 2,235 MHz in the base.
So it can be assumed that the RTX 5090 will probably crack the 3-gigahertz mark quite significantly under gaming load – 3,100 to 3,200 MHz is quite conceivable.
What does this mean for performance?
Around 30 percent more cores and an equally high base clock rate suggest that the RTX 5090 in 4K resolution could be at least 30 percent faster than the previous gaming flagship in terms of raster performance.
Improvements to the architecture and the use of the new GDDR7 graphics memory will result in further advantages that can have a positive impact on performance.
A noticeable performance increase is also expected with raytracing Additionally, the AI upscaler DLSS in version 4.0 could be reserved for the Blackwell graphics cards (RTX-50 series) to make the switch to a new model appealing.
When is the RTX 5090 due to be released?
The presentation of the RTX 5090 is generally expected to take place at CES 2025 (January 7-11). The market launch is also planned for early 2025.
