The life simulation Luma Island is currently very popular on Steam. We’ll give you a brief introduction to the game.
Run your own farm, meet friends and go on adventures: Life can be so beautiful in a farming simulation. Another game in this genre called Luma Island has just made it onto Steam and is already thrilling thousands of players. But what makes this title so special?
What is Luma Island?
At first glance, Luma Island looks like a Stardew Valley with pretty 3D graphics. And indeed, there are fundamental similarities: you build your own farm, complete quests and explore an expansive island full of dungeons and treasures. You can play either alone or in a group of up to four players in co-op.
In fact, Luma Island stands out from other games because of some special features. The game does without some classic features, which is positively emphasized in some Steam reviews:
A cozy game in which the devs have improved everything that is annoying in other games of the genre.
- Saving without going to sleep. Check.
- Infinite bag – Check
- Can it go away or do I still need it? Will be displayed. Check
- No stamina. Check.
- No fainting.
- Where can I find what. Displayed. Check
- Cute pet on the first day? Check (at least as a pirate)
…] Not to mention the innovative job system. 10 days in and still no field created 😉 This is a nice change. […] For me, a new benchmark in the “cozy farm building” genre.
Also well received by many players is the exploration, which plays a very important role in Luma Island. The varied and beautifully designed environments, filled with many secrets and treasures, are praised. It’s really worth looking around everywhere.
However, criticism is also expressed in the Steam reviews, even thougha large proportion of the ratings are positive at 80 percent
A common criticism is that too much grinding is required to collect resources. It takes a long time to cut down a tree, for example, and the loot is just a piece of wood. Players also miss the ability to build relationships with NPCs. At least the developers have indicated that this feature could be added in a future update.
