During the open beta, there were frequent complaints of technical problems, bugs and performance issues on PC. Let”s hope that the technology is optimized by the time of release so that everything runs as smoothly as in the fancy gameplay trailers:
Multiplayer: Can I play in co-op?
Monster Hunter Wilds can be played with up to four hunters in co-op.
- To play in multiplayer, you have to join a lobby. These lobbies can hold up to 100 players. Players in a lobby can then team up and complete quests together.
- You can use
link parties
for fixed groups of friends. This is where you join together in fixed 4-player groups that remain in place even after a completed quest. In addition, members have access to a voice chat. You can also join hunters in other lobbies, making it easier to play together spontaneously. - With the SOS flare, you can call for help from other players. Hunters can spontaneously respond to your distress signal and help you out with a particularly tough opponent or even rescue you from an awkward situation.
Crossplay: Can PC and console play together?
- Crossplay between PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S
- No crossprogression / crosssave
Monster Hunter Wilds supports cross-progression between PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Wilds is the first game in the series to allow cross-progression regardless of platform. This means that you can play with your friends and send friend requests regardless of the platform you choose. If necessary, cross-progression can also be easily disabled.
There will be no cross-progression. If you own Monster Hunter Wilds on multiple platforms, you cannot share your progress, but must create a separate save game for each.
Gameplay: How does Monster Hunter Wilds play?
Monster Hunter Wilds will continue the core mechanics of the series, but it will also bring some innovations:
- Game world:The world of Wilds is an open world, where you can explore huge areas that are connected to each other. Loading times are hidden in longer connecting passages. The map is said to be about twice as large as in previous installments of the series.
- Base:You can now set up a temporary camp in some places in the game world. You can also customize your camp and furnish it with furniture.
- Quests: Once you have completed a quest, you don”t have to return to base; you can go straight ahead and seek out new challenges in the world. You can also start new quests organically in the world, for example, by dealing enough damage to a monster.
- Focus Mode:;The new Focus Mode is designed to mark a monster”s wounds so that hunters can better target their attacks to deal more damage.
- Change Weapons:; in the wilds, you can take two weapons with you and simply switch between them as needed.
- Weather:; dynamic weather will impact gameplay, influencing the behavior and appearance of monsters, the environment, and ultimately, battles. In Wilds, hunters must also pay attention to weather changes if they want to defeat monsters.
Of course, Wilds also promises a whole bunch of new monsters. In terms of weapons, new upgrades and variants should provide a breath of fresh air.
Monster Hunter Wilds breaks new ground with its large and more open game world and promises the familiar gameplay with some new facets. We have linked further articles and news about Wilds so that you are always up to date.
Now we want to know your opinion: How did you like Monster Hunter Wilds so far? Did you participate in the open beta and will you start right after the release in February? Feel free to write it in the comments!
