HoYoverse has announced the release of Genshin Impact version 5.3, titled “Glowing Ode of Resurrection” for January 1, 2025 . The new version introduces a wealth of exciting content, including new playable characters, the long-awaited Lantern Rite, and numerous gameplay enhancements.
The centerpiece of Genshin Impact’s new version is the fifth act of the Natlan Archon quest, in which players join forces with the Pyro Archon Mavuika; Together they fight against the “Lord of the Erodated Primal Fire”. Mavuika, also known as Haborym, shines as a playable 5-star character with unique pyro abilities. She can attack enemies with a flame rider and use her special ability “Ring of Searing Splendor” to cause massive area damage.
Alongside Mavuika, the new version of Genshin Impact introduces the Cryo Catalyst character Citlali, who unleashes cryo storms on the battlefield with her little companions Itzpapa and Citlalin. Both figures are available in the first half of the promotional prayer, while popular characters such as Arlecchino, Clorinde, Ganyu, and Shenhe return later.
The Lantern Rite in Liyue
The annualLantern Ritealso returns to Genshin Impact, shining in Liyue Harbor. Players can look forward to free rewards such as 1,600 Primals , 10 Intertwined Fates , and a free 4-star character from Liyue. By completing festive mini-games and challenges, they can get Xiangling’s new “New Year’s Cheer” attire for free. Hu Tao’s outfit “Snow-Covered Cherries” is available at a discount for a limited time.

The new version of Genshin Impact also introduces practical improvements:
- Inventory limit for artifacts increased to 2,100.
- Boss enemies respawn faster after collecting rewards.
- The popular rhythm game becomes a permanent minigame.
- New cosmetic items, such as the wind glider “Wings of Intertwined Fate”, can be earned.
