Will the Master Chief soon be turning up on the Nintendo console? Phil Spencer is making a new statement.
Which games will be released for the Switch 2?We’re going to go out on a limb and say Super Mario, Zelda and Metroid! All jokes aside, the initial question is currently on the minds of many gaming fans, because at the official reveal of the Switch 2, there wasn’t much to see except for a brand new Mario Kart.
Now there is news – but not from Nintendo, but from Xbox boss Phil Spencer. He made a very important statement in a new podcast.
Xbox games will also be available on the Switch 2
In the latest episode of the podcast Gamertag Radio, Phil Spencer does the honors. The interview is mainly about how the Xbox brand will be represented on other platforms in the future. Of course, the conversation also turns to the Switch 2, and here Spencer says something very important:
I’m really looking forward to supporting [Switch 2] with the games we have.
This makes it almost certain that we will see all kinds of familiar names from the Xbox on the new Nintendo console It starts at minute 13:20 if you want to watch the part of the interview yourself:
What games could end up on the Switch 2?
Some Microsoft titles have already been released for the first Switch. Minecraft, for example, or Doom (2016), although its publisher Bethesda had not yet been bought by Microsoft at the time of the Switch port.
In the future, we should expect even bigger names, such as…
- .. Halo
- .. Flight Simulator
- .. Gears of War
- .. Fable
- .. Diablo
- .. Forza
- .. Call of Duty, Age of Empires and many more.
Even ports of already released hits like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle for the Switch 2 are conceivable after the quasi-confirmation from Phil Spencer.
The Switch 2 would thus in one fell swoop get a huge stack of old and potentially new hits that you can play on the go. However, none of this has been confirmed yet. We won’t know more until the Nintendo Direct on April 2, 2025 at the earliest, because that’s when the Japanese manufacturer finally wants to come clean with solid information about the new hybrid console.
The Xbox gaming year 2025 already looks very bright. On April 8, the action-adventure South of Midnight will be released, followed just a few days later, on April 24, by the role-playing game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
On May 15, the gates of hell will open again in Doom: The Dark Ages, before Ninja Gaiden 4 arrives in fall 2025. Will some or even all of these games also land on the Switch 2? We’ll see!
