As early as spring, you should be able to tear up the asphalt of the racing game giant on PlayStation as well.

For the past 13 years, the Forza Horizon series has only been playable on Xbox and PC. Anyone who wanted to make the rubber of their tires smoke on other platforms has been looking in vain.

But starting this spring, you won’t have to rely on alternatives like Need for Speed or Wreckfest anymore. Microsoft has surprisingly announced that Forza Horizon 5 will be released on the PlayStation 5 this year.

Forza Horizon 5 moves to the PS5 with all content

While a specific release date is still pending, the official Forza site proudly announced that the fifth installment of the series will also be available on Sony’s console in spring 2025. The experienced studio Panic Button, which has already brought DOOM Eternal and Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus to the Switch, is responsible for porting the 2021 game.

In addition to the main game, all released car packs as well as the Hot Wheels and Rally Adventure expansions will be available in the PS store. Furthermore, a free content update called Horizon Realms will be released for all platforms with the new release. It collects the most popular community content that was released at Evolving Worlds.

To make the port even more worthwhile, cross-play is supported. So if you get behind the wheel on PlayStation, you can bring your Xbox and PC friends with you.

With this port, Microsoft is consistently pursuing its new strategy. In recent months, more and more former Xbox-exclusive titles, including Sea of Thieves, have been released on other platforms. In addition, company head Phil Spencer recently announced that more and more in-house games will be released on the Switch 2 in the future. You can read more about this in the articles linked above.
