The awesome modern military tactical game is getting its biggest update yet on February 10, along with a campaign at long last.
After a long silence, the celebrated military tactical game Door Kickers 2 is finally being released in its final form.
As developer studio KillHouse Games confirmed via a trailer, version 1.0 will be released on February 10, 2025 and end early access.
What exactly was announced?
The trailer shows a montage from the final launch version of Door Kickers 2. Special forces storm buildings, eliminate terrorists and free hostages in the Middle East, while the action is monitored from a command center.
There are also new features to see such as a moving train, new stealth options and weapons, and factions like the SSI Special Ops.
The corresponding update is said to be by far the largest and most important in the five-year development history of the game. You can see the trailer here:
What is Door Kickers 2?
Door Kickers 2 is the sequel to the 2014 action-tactics game with a focus on realistic CQB scenarios (Close Quarters Battle). Troops are controlled in pauseable real time from a bird’s eye view.
Careful planning, equipment, and tactical decisions, as well as the authentic military setting, suggest a comparison with earlier parts of Rainbow Six or Ghost Recon. By contrast, the predecessor focused on police operations of a SWAT team.
What’s in the 1.0 release?
KillHouse Games had already revealed in October 2024what would be in the final release. The update to version 1.0 will therefore presumably include the following:
- Campaign: Four operations with their own story and interwoven missions
- Tour of Duty: Randomly generated mission chains with a high degree of replayability
- Doctrine System: Skill trees for combat troops that include new tactics and upgrades
- New maps: More than 90 individual missions, including night missions
- New enemies: New units added to every faction in the game
- Mod support: Fan creations are supported via the Steam Workshop
Those who like to create (and share) their own missions for their special forces team can also access a completely improved editor in Door Kickers 2 1.0. This should make custom scenarios even more diverse. According to the developers, fans have already created more than 7,500 custom maps in early access.
