Will Smith suddenly appears on the Twitch stream and confirms two new movies

According to Will Smith, two movie sequels are coming soon: I Am Legend 2 and Hancock 2. He even mentions possible stars.

With such news, no one would have expected a stream. Actor Will Smith is giving fans hope for two belated sequels. According to the report, I Am Legend and Hancock are each to receive a sequel.

He is not yet disclosing any specific story details, but he is already naming the first projects.

Not one, but two sequels

On February 19, 2025, Will Smith made a surprise appearance in a live stream of Twitch streamer xQc and immediately opened up.

According to the 56-year-old actor, I Am Legend 2 is apparently making its way to the big screen. There have even been initial talks with Michael B. Jordan (Black Panther, Fantastic Four) and who is writing the script is also already known.

Me and Michael B. Jordan sat down for about a week and went over the characters. Akiva Goldsman is the screenwriter, so he puts it together. It’s really happening and I love working with this guy [Michael B. Jordan].

Author Akiva Goldman is known, among other things, for his work as the showrunner of the Star Trek series Strange New Worlds. He also wrote the scripts for films such as A Beautiful Mind: Genius and Madness or The Comeback.

But that’s not all: in the same breath, Smith also announces a second part of Hancock This time, he would like Dune star Zendaya to be part of it.

Of course, there is also a small clip about this:

There is a really, really cool idea for Hancock 2. We haven’t even talked about it yet, so I’ll tell you a tiny bit about it. Zendaya [has been] approached for a role in Hancock 2.

That sounds like pretty big (and concrete) plans for the future. It remains to be seen whether both films will make it past development and actually end up in theaters. I Am Legend 2 is well on its way with a screenwriter.

The success of I Am Legend and Hancock

In Hancock (2008), Will Smith plays the superhero John, who is completely overwhelmed by his superpowers such as invulnerability, boundless physical strength and the ability to fly.

The film is, however, mostly panned by critics on Rotten Tomatoes and only gets 42 percent. Fans are also not really convinced at 59 percent.

Meanwhile, things are looking a little better for I Am Legend (2007), which gets 68 percent from fans and critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

The blockbuster is about virologist Dr. Robert Neville (Will Smith), who killed billions of people with a modified measles virus that was originally intended to cure cancer.

Regardless of the reviews, both films made the box office ring. With an estimated budget of $150 million, I Am Legend could take in over $585.41 million (via Box Office Mojo ). While Hancock, with the same budget, even bagged $629.44 million (via Box Office Mojo).

Since the projects are apparently still in the early stages of development, there are of course no official release dates yet.

By the way, there was a rumor that Will Smith would appear in The Matrix 5. But now we know that this is just a music video for his new song Beautiful Scars with Big Sean.
