Kingdom Come 2: Despite all the love, many fans also have a massive point of criticism – opponents cheat in fights

Kingdom Come 2 inspires many of its players, and yet there is always criticism of the combat system.

It’s not a new song that some fans are singing on their social networks these days – in fact, it’s been playing since the release of the first part: the combat system of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is frustrating!

You hear it over and over again in the comments. And there are good reasons why many people have a hard time with it – even though many others are having great fun with it. Especially since Warhorse has improved quite a bit of the system.

Currently, is being discussed in a thread on Reddit, but the combat system is once again the subject of particularly heated debate. The accusation from the community: the opponents are cheating!

Robbers use teleportation

Did you think that the knights and robbers in Bohemia would meet you on equal terms? No way! The AI has its own tricks to make your life difficult. But that’s exactly what’s getting some of the players worked up.

In the thread by KydMiki, the user provides visual evidence that enemies occasionally bugger-hop to Heinrich at close range during fights. Even if he’s about to take to his heels on a horse and is already gaining distance, some enemies still land a hit. You can see the sequence here as a picture gallery.

And it is not the only evidence of such behavior. In a somewhat older thread, a user also shows a video where this phenomenon occurs. Here an opponent races superhumanly fast towards Heinrich to still give him a clip:

In the comments below the threads, many players complain about this method. Not only would many fights on foot become even more exhausting, but it would also contribute to the fact that fighting on horseback in Kingdom Come 2 seems completely meaningless.

Some are even asking Warhorse to fix the whole teleport and rubber band story in a future patch – but the matter is not quite that trivial.

This is not a bug

What may appear to be a bug at first glance is actually intentional and already existed in this form in the predecessor Warhorse has therefore deliberately decided to leave this form of rubber band AI in the game.

It is also not unusual for games to resort to such tricks. There are some systems, especially in combat, where, for various reasons, it is necessary to attach opponents in order to (usually) display animations properly. The only question here is how well the game can conceal this.

And Kingdom Come 2 is actually very good at this in most cases, if only because of the limited view of the first-person perspective. Apparently, however, the whole thing could be even cleaner in some situations. If the distance is too great, strange scenes like the ones shown in the pictures can occur.

Whether Warhorse can optimize this still remains to be seen. Basically, however, we do not assume that the teleport forces of the opponents will completely disappear.
