Since the official announcement of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, the rumor mill has been buzzing – and fans have every reason to be excited! Not only is the Kalos region returning, but so is a legendary feature: Mega Evolutions. But what is really behind the leaks? Which Pokémon will get a new form? And what does it mean for gameplay?

Story & Setting: Back to Kalos!

With Pokémon Legends: Z-A, players return to the Kalos region, which was originally introduced in Pokémon X & Y. The action takes place in Illumina City, one of the most iconic cities in the Pokémon world. This time, however, it is in the middle of a major renovation project, which brings with it new opportunities for exploration and perhaps even unexpected story twists.

While not much is known about the exact story yet, it is speculated that Zygarde will play a central role – which, given the “Z” in the title, is no coincidence. Perhaps we will see a completely new interpretation of the legendary Pokémon and its cell forms?

Gameplay & Features: Mega Evolutions are making a comeback

One of the biggest highlights of Pokémon Legends: Z-A is the return of Mega Evolutions. This special mechanic, introduced in Pokémon X & Y, allows certain Pokémon to temporarily transform into a stronger form during battle.

Mega Pokémon such as the following have already been confirmed:

  • Mega Charizard X & Y
  • Mega Lucario
  • Mega Scraggy
  • Mega Ampharos
  • Mega Kangaskhan and many more!

But that’s not all: According to Leaks; there are plans for up to 27 completely new Mega Evolutions. Among the Pokémon said to be getting a new Mega Form are Mega Dragonite, Mega Poliwag, and Mega Starmie.

Development & Expectations: What Does the Community Say?

While many fans are excited about the return of Mega Evolution, there is also some controversy. A new leak suggests that Pokémon Legends: Z-A will not introduce new Pokémon types—a feature that was still a big part of Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Instead, the focus could be on regional variants and new Mega Forms.

The expectations for Pokémon Legends: Z-A are sky-high. With the popular Kalos region, the open exploration of Illumina City and the return of a long-missing feature, the game could be a huge success – provided Game Freak delivers in terms of performance and innovation.

A legendary adventure awaits us!

Whether it’s Mega Evolutions, the mysterious story around Zygarde, or new surprises – Pokémon Legends: Z-A has the potential to be a real highlight for fans. Only one question remains: Which Mega Evolution do you want the most?

Pokémon Legends: Z-A is scheduled to be released at the end of 2025.
