The Tales series is growing. We have the release date and the first trailer for you.

It’s actually only two weeks before the big Star Wars Celebration (April 18-20). Traditionally, new projects are announced there, but Disney obviously couldn’t hold back an announcement anymore: A new Star Wars series will be released this year!
There is already a first trailer and even a release date. And it falls on a very special day.

Excursion into a galaxy without laws

After the mini-series Tales of the Jedi and Tales of the Empire, Tales of the Underworld will be released on May 4, 2025. On this day, fans traditionally celebrate their favorite universe for 24 hours. (May the fourth be with you!)

The new animated show is about former Nightsister Asajj Ventress (original voice: Nika Futterman) and popular bounty hunter Cad Bane (Corey Burton).

There will be a total of six episodes, which will be released at once at the release In three episodes, Ventress gets a new lease on life and finds herself on the run with an ally.

In the rest of the show, Cad Bane faces his past when a former friend is now on the other side of the law. Watch the trailer here:

Asajj Ventress first appeared in the animated series The Clone Wars, where the Sith apprentice fought for the Separatists under Count Dooku. After her defeat, she returned to the Nightsisters. She later appeared in The Bad Batch, too. (This time with a snazzy new hairstyle.)

Bounty hunter Cad Bane is also known from the Clone Wars and even got a live-action version in The Book of Boba Fett. There, however, Bane was killed by Boba Fett. So fans are seeing bits of his past in the Tales series.

The success of the Tales series

Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi started in 2022 and received an impressive 100 percent from critics on Rotten Tomatoes The miniseries received a 92 percent rating from the audience, while the film database IMDb gave it 8.1 stars.

The successor Star Wars: Tales of the Empire, is significantly less convincing on Rotten Tomatoes Critics give it 88 percent and fans only 46 percent. Based on over 13,000 ratings, the show gets 7.0 stars on IMDb. Before Tales of the Underworld starts, there is a live-action series coming up. Andor season 2 will be released on Disney Plus on April 23, 2025. The first three episodes will be available at the release date, followed by one episode per week.

But after the second season it’s supposed to be over, even though more seasons were planned before that!
