Epic is giving away a cute adventure game this week. If you enjoy quirky characters and little puzzles, this is the game for you.

There may not be a big AAA hit among this week’s free games, but Epic is giving you a small but sweet indie gem instead. Botanicula is an adventure game about five cute tree creatures who want to save their home.

The game comes from Czech studio Amanita Design, whose best-known game is the point-and-click adventure Machinarium.

Free at Epic: Botanicula

Botanicula tells the story of five little tree creatures and their journey to save their home. A parasite has infested the tree and black spider creatures are sucking the life out of it.

To save the tree, you set off with the little group to find the last seed of your home. But the parasites aren’t the only thing standing in your way.

To progress, you have to solve little puzzles Most of the time, it’s about figuring out how you can influence the game world with the mouse pointer and which of the five is the right one for the task.

The game hardly tells you what to do, so you happily click around the environment, discovering lots of hidden details and interactions with other creatures.

Botanicula is a charming little adventure aimed at players who want to relax and immerse themselves in the unique art style and music. There are no major challenges, and it’s more about discovering the game world and its many secrets.

On Steam the game has a95 percent positive rating

Botanicula brings about six hours of childlike joy and lightheartedness to your screen, making it the perfect game to switch off and escape for a while.

As always, you have exactly one week, until April 24, 2025, at 5:00 p.m., to add the game to your library in the Epic Game Store for free. There is no DLC content.
