Many old maps get a remaster in Battlefield 2042. The comparison video shows the big jump in graphics

Last Tuesday, Battlefield Portal, the second major game mode of Battlefield 2042, was revealed. Here, players can not only create new game modes and rule sets with an editor, but also access numerous weapons and maps from past series parts. By the way, you can find all important info on BF Portal here:

The community has already created the first comparison videos in which they compare the Remaster scenes shown in the trailer with the original maps from Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3 – and the graphic leap is really something to be proud of.

The graphics jump in the video

In his video, YouTuber Cycu1 compares three of the newly released maps with their originals: Vaparaiso and Arica Harbor from Bad Company 2 as well as Caspian Border from BF 3. You’d best take a look at how good the maps look in the latest version of the Frostbite engine for yourself:

Valparaiso: The visual differences are smallest here. However, this may also be due to the lack of visuals of the BF2042 version. The remake of the map will definitely offer much improved textures, which can be seen particularly well on the mountains and buildings.

Arica Harbor: The textures on the environment will also be much more detailed here. In addition, ray tracing reflections can be seen in the video on the basis of the puddles. A second comparison video by the YouTuber shows this particularly clearly from 1:06 in the video. Where only a stony ground can be seen in the original, deep vehicle tracks can be seen in the remake, in which reflective puddles have also formed:

Caspian Border: One of the largest and most popular maps of the third part of the series can convince with a much denser vegetation and more realistic lighting. The destruction of the radio tower, which was already impressive in the original, looks even more opulent in the new engine.

In addition to these three maps, Battle of the Bulde and El Alamein (both from BF 1942) as well as Noshahr Canals (BF 3) will also find their way into Battlefield 2042 – although these have not yet been seen.
