Former Heroic coach Nicolai “HUNDEN” Petersen is facing legal action for allegedly leaking confidential information.

The split between Danish esports organisation Heroic and its sacked coach Nicolai “HUNDEN” Petersen is getting messy. Heroic accuses the 30-year-old coach of leaking confidential content from the Counter-Strike team’s strategy folder ahead of the Intel Extreme Masters Cologne 2021.

The Danish organisation had therefore cancelled HUNDEN’s contract. At the LAN event in Cologne, Troels ‘robl’ Robl therefore took over the duties of the appointed head coach. In a statement released on Thursday, Heroic classified the alleged leaking of information as a “clear breach of contract”, which is said to have led to the dismissal of Nicolai Petersen.

The incident now has a judicial aftermath, with Heroic stating that two courts independently have “sufficient grounds to hear evidence”. In addition, the Danish organisation has informed the ESL and ESIC, which have also launched investigations.

HUNDEN itself had already written in its own statement on Wednesday that at no point had Heroic’s tactics been “shared or discussed” with other parties. In the ESL statement from Thursday, Ulrich Schulze, ESL managing director of Pro Gaming, wrote that the ESL had investigated the allegations regarding an influence on the IEM Cologne. At least during the course of the tournament, the organiser could not detect any impact on the integrity of the competition. The ESIC wants to wait for the judicial investigations and is considering sanctions in case of any misconduct found.
