Everything points to the fact that Titan Quest 2 is coming. There is already a first concept art and information about the mythological setting.
You almost certainly remember Titan Quest: released in 2006, the action role-playing game put you in the role of a mythological hero who fought his way through ancient Greece, Egypt and the Orient to stop the Titans from conquering the world.
Surprisingly, new DLCs for the Diablo competitor appeared in 2017 and most recently again in 2019, expanding the base game with new acts in Norse mythology and the sunken city of Atlantis.
Apparently these were successful enough that publisher THQ Nordic is now having a proper sequel developed – because if you put one and one together, it’s now all but certain that Titan Quest 2 is coming.
What we already know about Titan Quest 2
Titan Quest 2 has not been officially announced yet. But on the website of the federal government’s games funding, “Project Minerva”, a new title has now surfaced that leaves little doubt about the upcoming sequel. With a sum of 2.59 million euros, the title has received the highest amount so far since the start of the funding programme in mid-2020.
What is Titan Quest 2 about? According to the description, Project Minrva is an action role-playing game set in a “picturesque, handcrafted, open-world ancient world” threatened by creatures from Greek, Persian and Egyptian mythology – in other words, the exact same starting point as in the first part of the series.
Further information about the game itself is not yet available. But you can already take a look at a first artwork drawing:
Who is developing the game? Project Minerva is in development at Grimlore Games. The Munich-based studio has become known for developing Spellforce 3 and its expansions.
When can we expect a release? According to the homepage of the Ministry of Transport, the funding period ends on 31 March 2024. Even if that doesn’t mean that the game will be released then, a release in around 2.5 years seems quite realistic to us
