First-time mistakes and learnings
“When I started playing Call of Duty, I made a lot of basic mistakes. For example, I was always trying to get a kill,” Standy explains of his beginnings in the game’s multiplayer. To become an esport player, the RØKKR pro had to change his mindset:
‘What I learned is that my plays should be effective and help my team. You should work together with your teammates and always think about how every decision can affect them.

How to improve your Aim
The US-American knows from his own experience what it’s like to start small. That’s why he has a few recommendations for budding professionals. His tip number 1: “Play a lot. I didn’t start with Call of Duty either and immediately had a super Aim.”
Play a lot, learn a lot – the best way to do that is to watch more experienced players. According to Standy, the ideal platform for this is the Ranked mode “League Play”. Here you often meet opponents who have both a good Movement and a good Aim. Perfect for practising.
“You may not be the best at the beginning, but the better your opponents are, the better you will become. That’s the only way to develop your game,” explains the 20-year-old. Nevertheless, you shouldn’t ignore the top players: “I’ve watched a lot of professionals myself and learned a lot from them. That’s what made me better,” says Standy.
Even though you can learn a lot from the esportsmen, you are always responsible for your own progress. “If you find a good player in a match, don’t hesitate to write to them and ask if you can play together,” advises Standy. His conclusion:
