Development studio Treyarch has officially been revealed as the main creator of a zombie mode in the new game Vanguard. Leakers suggest that the mode is slated for every upcoming CoD from now on.

The upcoming CoD spin-off Vanguard is now entering the alpha phase almost two and a half months before its release. Fans of the series have been kept in the loop by numerous leaks even before the official unveiling of the title – for example, it is known that a zombie mode is planned for Vanguard. Leaker Tom Henderson shared the information last week via Key To Gaming that developer Treyarch will be primarily responsible for this one.

Zombie mode firmly integrated?

Treyarch Studios has been at the forefront of development for CoD: World at War as well as the Black Ops parts and is known for the zombie mode. For Call of Duty: Vanguard, only Sledgehammer Games was known as the developer, which is why Treyarch’s involvement comes as a surprise. Treyarch’s focus on the zombie mode instead of the development of the entire game is also new.

Tom Henderson suggested on Twitter that the renewed involvement of Treyarch could point to a larger project behind the zombie mode. Activision has a “bigger plan” regarding zombies and its storylines and still has “a lot in store”. However, the leaker was not able to reveal any more detailed information on this.

In light of the events, fans of the game series are alone with their speculations about zombies for the time being. In the comments column of the above tweet, one user recalled a supposed zombie game that could possibly be made under Treyarch Studios’ full focus. Leaker Tom Henderson did not comment either confirming or denying this conjecture.

Even if it doesn’t make it into a standalone Zombies game, Treyarch’s responsibility for the zombie mode could establish it as an integral part of the series. It could probably be found in Vanguard, everything else would have to be proven by future CoD releases.
