The new Battlefield title will be released in November for all consoles as well as for the PC. But will the new shooter also offer a cross-play function?
You play on the PC, but your friends prefer to play on the console? That used to be a big problem! Today there is an intelligent solution for this. The so-called “Crossplay”. A function that connects you with other players across platforms. But not every game offers crossplay.
That’s why we’re wondering:
Does Battlefield 2042 support crossplay?
Cross-platform play will be possible in Battlefield 2042, according to the developer. However, it has already been announced that crossplay will not work across generations due to technical limitations.
Who can play with whom?
The Battlefield lobbies are to be divided into two groups:
- PC, Xbox Series XS and PlayStation 5 can play among themselves. This group can decide for themselves whether they want to play together with other platforms or not.
- The other group consists of Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players. There will be no choices here
Why the subdivision?
The technical difference between the various console generations is simply too great. Therefore, for the older generations, there will only be battles with an upper limit of 64 players. For the next-gen consoles and the PC, battles with up to 128 simultaneous players will be offered.
Will scores also be saved across platforms?
If you own different consoles or want to switch between console and PC, that’s no problem. All your achievements, unlocked items and experience points will be stored in your EA account. Purchased content will also be synchronised on each platform. This function is also called “Cross-Commerce” by EA.
