The next patch for BF2042 will be released in December. A developer has now revealed first details about what you can expect there.

Battlefield 2042 is still in an unusual situation: Although the multiplayer shooter was released in a technically miserable state, it is played by hundreds of thousands of players every day.

With the first updates, the developers have so far only tackled the roughest and most obvious problems, but have not yet been able to fix them completely and, to make matters worse, have introduced new bugs like the mouse bug into the game. No wonder, then, that the community is on the verge of losing its patience.

Now BF2042 Lead Gameplay Designer Florian Le Bihan of DICE has taken to social media to face fans of the game and promised better.

What to expect in the next BF2042 patch

Steps & Audio Improvements: Probably the most important point is that, according to the developer, the sounds of the steps will be improved. Currently, it is extremely difficult to determine the position of nearby enemies based on their footsteps. Enemies who are 30 metres away could just as well be three metres away – somehow everything sounds the same.

Le Bihan also promises that further audio improvements will find their way into the game. Possibly, vehicles could then also be better located. Because every BF2042 player has definitely been run over by a hovercraft or an M5C Bolte without even hearing it coming.

Hit registration: It is now well known that shots fired are not always registered by the game. The developer promises that this will be worked on. In particular, the bug that occasionally no shots arrive at all after you have left a vehicle is to be fixed soon. The fact that the hit registration at long distances works much less reliably than in close combat is also not to remain as it is.

More bug fixes:

  • Ammunition for grenade launchers will soon be available from ammunition boxes, not only from Angel’s supply delivery.
  • For some functions, such as changing the zoom level on certain sights, the keyboard layout can soon be changed.
  • The shots of co-drivers currently do not arrive when the driver of a tank is currently turning his turret. This should be fixed.
  • The mouse bug, which currently affects many players and can only be fixed with a workaround, will be fixed.
    • A glitch in the downed state where the camera goes crazy is also fixed.
